SUNDAY 26TH OCTOBER - Northampton BBOB RFC travelled to a cloudy St Neots, in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter with plenty of twists and turns to keep the crowds on the edge of their seats.

The boys started off slowly, conceding two early converted tries as St Neots took control in the opening stages. However, the response from our U14s was outstanding. Some sharp thinking from AJ deep in our own 22 turned defence into attack. A quick tap-and-go penalty caught St Neots off guard, and set Flynn free to race the length of the pitch for a superb solo try.

That moment of brilliance sparked the comeback, and the boys quickly followed up with another score, with Isaac crossing the try line after sustained pressure. Aiden added a conversion to bring BBOB right back into the game.

The second half saw BBOB come out firing. Flynn bagged another try to complete his hat-trick, bringing another strong finish to put the visitors ahead. Unfortunately, a few handling errors and penalties allowed St Neots back into the contest, and the hosts capitalised with a couple more tries to edge back into the front.

Despite the result, it was a hugely positive performance from the lads. Their resilience, teamwork, and attacking intent stood out throughout — and it didn’t go unnoticed. The referee commented after the match that BBOB were 'the best team he’s refereed in the last few years', which says it all about the spirit and quality of the performance.

Special player shoutout to: Flynn for his outstanding attacking display with a hat-trick of tries, AJ for his quick thinking to turn defence into attack, Aiden for being a constant threat with the tee - delivering 3 conversions, and Man of the Match – Jacob – for his tireless effort in both attack and defence, and setting the standard for the team.
