SUNDAY 8TH MARCH - This weekend we welcomed Market Harborough, Casuals and Bugbrooke to The Mill for a fantastic afternoon of girls’ rugby. With a round-robin series of games lined up, it promised plenty of action, and the girls certainly delivered.

From the very first whistle, the BBOB girls played with real spirit and energy. In attack the team moved the ball beautifully, showing off the handling skills and patterns that have been worked on in training. Support play was excellent throughout, with players constantly backing each other up and looking to keep the ball alive.

The result was some brilliant attacking rugby. The girls showed great confidence to run hard, pass wide and back themselves whenever space appeared, leading to some superb tries across the afternoon.

Defensively the team were just as impressive. The tackle count across the games was huge, with the girls showing real bravery and determination to stop their opponents. What stood out most was how well everyone worked together. Communicating, supporting each other and never giving up on a play.

It was also fantastic to see some new players joining the squad. They slotted straight in and were supported brilliantly by the rest of the team, which says everything about the culture these girls are building. It didn’t take long before they looked like they had always been part of the squad. A real sign of the BBOB rugby family spirit.

Across the afternoon there were plenty of standout moments: powerful carries, clever offloads, determined tackles and some superbly taken tries. But more than anything, it was the team effort that really shone through. Every player played their part, and the girls should be incredibly proud of the way they represented the club.

A big thank you to Market Harborough, Casuals and Bugbrooke for making the trip and for playing the games in such great spirit. Days like this are exactly what girls’ rugby is all about.

Finally, thank you to all the parents and supporters who came down to cheer the girls on and create such a brilliant atmosphere. A special mention as well to Bugbrooke for providing some great food afterwards, it was very much appreciated by players and supporters alike.

A brilliant afternoon of rugby and another great step forward for this fantastic team.
